Altare della Patria

Located in Piazza Venezia

This spectacular monument, also called "Il Vittoriano", was built in honor of Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of Italy who was also known as the "Father of the Nation". The monument was designed by Antonio Zanelli from Brescia and the marble used was Botticino.
Inside the Altare della Patria there is a museum of the Risorgimento which has recently hosted exhibitions on the history of the Vittoriano.
Apart from the beauty of the monument, it is a must to take the elevator all the way to the panoramic terrace. Once you arrive to Terrazza dele Quadrighe, you will be amazed by the amazing view of Rome, of the Colosseum, of the Roman Forums and the Roman rooftops. It is simply beautiful. Enjoy!

3.50 Euros for under 18 and over 65
Free for children up to 10 years old
