Rigoletto - Teatro dell'Opera

Located in Teatro Costanzi in Piazza Beniamino Gigli, 7

Rigoletto is a melodramatic opera by Giuseppe Verdi consisting of three acts. Francesco Maria Piave wrote the Italian libretto and was inspired by Victor Hugo's Le Roi S'amuse. This tragic story focuses on three main protagonists: Rigoletto, the court jester, the Duke of Manuta and Rigoletto's daughter, Gilda.
When Rigoletto encourages the Duke of Manuta to seduce one of his courtier's daughter, a curse is cast on both of them. It seemed that the curse had no effect until Rigoletto's daughter, Gilda, is seduced by the Duke of Mantua. This shocking news makes Rigoletto lose his patience and decides to have the Duke assassinated. However, Gilda is still in love with the Duke and decides to sacrifice herself in order to save her lover's life.
In the beautiful context of Teatro Costanzi and directed by Leo Muscato, this spectacular tragic story should not be missed. Enjoy!
